Express Contract Drying Ltd has spent £2.5m on new equipment in addition to £500,000 on a new building, adding 10,000 sq ft of new space.
This expansion has increased the production capacity by 30%, with the company estimating an increase in annual turnover from £3.5m to £5m.
Another round of investment is due to start in September, with the acquisition of another 10,000 sq ft of space. This will also lead to a further 10 to 15 jobs.
Owner and managing director David McDermott commented on the new expansion:
“We’ve been scaling up to meet demand and will do so more by the end of the year. We’re filling up capacity very rapidly. We’re already working 24/7 and have no space to work more overtime, which is why we’re having to add capacity.”
